Winterize, winterize, winterize.

We can’t say it enough…on a cold Colorado winter day your German made vehicle needs to be properly winterized.  This is not San Diego it’s Denver!  The radical changes in temperature and driving conditions will occur virtually overnight.  If this is your first winter living in our beautiful area beware of the weather.

Here are some winterizing tips for a Denver winter –

1.  Have your battery checked
2.  Change the wiper blades and refill the fluid
3.  Strongly consider snow tires
4.  Check the tire pressure frequently
5.  Change the oil and its viscosity

Some of these tips and more may be DIY jobs, but for the big picture people of the Denver area make an appointment at The German Car Shoppe.  We are your Denver area German Car winterizing professionals.  Don’t hit the holiday road before you stop at our shop located at 5115 Santa Fe Drive in Littleton.  Call for an appointment at (303) 798-2287.

Independent vs. Dealership…that is the Question.

At some point, every German car owner grapples with this important decision: Should I take my car to a dealer or an independent mechanic for routine maintenance and repairs?  There are pros and cons for both.  Let us take a few moments and explore the options of both.

Supposedly, a big advantage of taking a car to a dealer shop is its tie to the auto manufacturer. If you have a beef with the service you can always take it up with the auto manufacturer.  Have you ever tried to get in touch with one?  Independent garages tend to be smaller and less expensive than dealer shops. And many get high marks for customer service.

That is where The German Car Shoppe comes in.  At our location we count on word of mouth and customer referrals.  We have to do the job better and less expensively because we don’t have one particular German car manufacturer’s name on our building.  Make an appointment at our Littleton location and discover for yourself by calling (303) 798-2287.

Thinking of a Pre-Owned German-made Car?

Every day in this country that is an issue that is on people’s minds.  Should I buy a used car?  Should I pay for quality?  Should that car be German manufactured?  You have probably done the research and made up your mind that you would like to buy a pre-owned Mercedes, BMW, Audi, etc.

A private owner (and even dealerships) will tell you what they think will sell the car.  It is NOT always the full truth!  Obviously, you know that.  It is the gamesmanship of purchasing any used car.  In this case, you want to invest in something that will be roadworthy for years and tens of thousands of miles to come.

So, what do you do?  The answer is to take it to The German Car Shoppe in Littleton, Colorado.  They will perform all of the tests and give you a list of what is right and wrong with your potential purchase.  The great news is that the inspection is completely unbiased and extremely thorough.  Call them for an appointment at their Littleton shop (303) 798-2287.

Supersize my Brakes.

It almost sounds like an order at a fast food restaurant.  What it refers to is the braking system of the amazing Porsche.  If you own one you may or may not be aware that the manufacturer of this status vehicle super-sizes its brakes to adapt to the high-powered output of the Porsche engine.

What is the PCCB?  This acronym stands for Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake.  Your Macan model may be equipped with PCCB.  The cross-drilled ceramic brake discs have a diameter of 396 mm at the front axle and a thickness of 38 mm. At the rear, they are 370 mm in diameter and 30 mm thick.  The advantage is that the discs are half as light as standard discs.

The intricacies of the Porsche are such that only a trained mechanic should ever work on them.  When the braking system or any part of your Porsche needs repair or maintenance you turn to a Porsche pro.  In Denver, the answer is always the Porsche maintenance mechanics at The German Car Shoppe.  Where else would you go?  Call for an appointment at their Littleton Porsche service center (303) 798-2287.

Let’s look at two top models.  The Mercedes C63 is the most expensive car in its class.  It has a great body and a beautiful interior.  Standard features include 19-inch wheels, LED lights, Nappa leather trim, and a panoramic sunroof.  The BMW M3 is $16,000 dollars less, but it is loaded with high-end equipment.  Check it out for yourself.

Whatever you decide on, be it a BMW or a Mercedes, most people around Denver know to trust The German Car Shoppe.  We are Denver’s main headquarters for German auto repair and maintenance and have been for many years.  Make an appointment at our Littleton location by calling (303) 798-2287.

The ECM and PCM of your Mercedes.

You should not have to give a second thought to these acronyms, but it might be important to know what they stand for.  The engine control management computer and the powertrain control module are modern computers that receive inputs from nearly every system on the vehicle.  I think we can safely say that is the HEART of the matter!

How does it all work?  Battery power is supplied to the ECM, or PCM, and the ECM is programmed to send that electricity at a steady, regulated voltage to engine sensors, as well as other control units, and other devices on the network.  Every system in your Mercedes depends on the information it receives to function properly.

Now the important question.  Whom do you trust to fix your Mercedes’ “heart”?  The answer in the Denver area is always The German Car Shoppe.  We are Littleton and Denver’s ECM and PCM repair experts.  We are known throughout the country as a top electrical repair shop for German cars.  Call for an appointment at our Littleton location at (303) 798-2287.

You own your German car for extraordinary performance, amazing engineering, comfort, and ease of handling.  Under the hood is the integration of the most advanced technological features in the automotive industry.  In spite of this, it is reasonable to assume that eventually your German beauty may have some electrical issues.

A trained group of professionals will troubleshoot your electrical system.  They will replace starters, batteries, and even smart keys if necessary.  One thing you must insist on is that the place where you take your vehicle has the most up-to-date diagnostic equipment for all German makes and models.

An Education about the BMW 3 Series.

Here is a quick tutorial about a legendary vehicle.  It is the BMW 3 Series.  Maybe you are considering buying one of these used beauties.  The 4-door sedan was sold between the years of 1998 to 2005.  The 2-door coupe’ saw its evolution in 1999 and went through the assembly line until 2006.  The 2-door convertible had a similar life-span.

Do some research on these various models and see which one (if any) is right for you.  We know that if you are looking at BMW’s then you are headed in the right direction.  They are motor cars that stand the test of time.  If they are properly maintained they will give you decades of performance and hundreds of thousands of miles, even in the Rockies.

We know that because for many, many years we have been servicing BMW’s in the Denver area.  We are The German Car Shoppe.  We are located in Littleton and have hundreds of satisfied German car owners who rely on us to keep their cars on the road no matter what driving conditions are thrown at them.  Make an appointment today by calling (303) 798-8058.

German Engineering Should Give You Peace of Mind.

Finding a great German Auto mechanic is like finding a great family doctor.  That’s a keeper!  Beware of guys who say, “I know the problem and you need X” without saying how they came to that conclusion by way of computer diagnostics, a test drive, and careful inspection.  They should then be able to explain a plan of action.

Today’s German car contains more computing power than the Apollo spacecraft that flew to the moon and back.  This computerization removes a lot of the guesswork.  Also, if you are taking your German vehicle in for a simple oil change and the mechanic comes back with a laundry list of other “flushes” then these may be what the industry refers to as “wallet flushes”.

So many of your friends in the Denver metro have trusted their German-owned cars and SUVs to The German Car Shoppe.  Located in Littleton they have become Denver’s headquarters for German car repair and maintenance.  Make an appointment today at their shop located at 5115 South Santa Fe Drive by calling (303) 798-2287.

The Audi Timing Belt.

It is one of the primary component parts that needs checking periodically on your Audi.  Regardless of the model or the year, there may be issues with the timing belt and you need a professional shop to keep an eye on it.  Bent valves may end up being the result of timing belt failure. If the timing belt breaks major destruction may occur.

What should YOU know when you go in to your favorite German auto repair shop to have your Audi’s timing belt replaced?  While replacing the belt it may also be wise to replace the water pump, the pulleys, and the tensioner.  The important thing to know at this point is trust in your repair person to give you the proper advice as to whether all of this is needed.

People in Rocky Mountain country continue to trust The German Car Shoppe.  Located in Littleton Colorado folks drive from distances throughout the area to have their Audi timing belt properly maintained and replaced when needed.  In fact, they count on the German Car Shoppe for all of their Audi maintenance.  Call for an appointment today at (303) 798-2287.

Memorial Day Weekend in Colorado

“Kick off your summer in The Mile High City. Experience unforgettable exhibitions, sporting events and free live music at Denver Day of Rock.”

How is Your A/C in your Mercedes?

It is definitely time to give this issue primary consideration.  One thing about Colorado summers…one day the high could be 60 degrees then the next it could be 90 degrees!  The air conditioning system in your Mercedes vehicle had better be ready for the Denver summer when 60 soars to 90 almost overnight.

The air conditioning system in a Mercedes Benz is complicated.  One of the reasons it is such a special ride is its uniqueness.  With that, comes responsibility on you, the owner.  You simply must NOT trust the repair and maintenance of your Mercedes a/c system to someone who does not work on them routinely.

If the name on the front of the building says The German Car Shoppe would that make you feel better?  Well, that is the name on our building.  The German Car Shoppe is your Denver area Mercedes air conditioning maintenance specialist.  Before Memorial Day call and make an appointment at our Littleton location (303) 798-2287.

Cayenne Drive Shaft Repair.

If you own a Porsche you will know exactly what this is.  For example, if you own a 2004 CS you might be tempted to shop around for an after-market part and do it yourself.  Know that going in you will pay over $600 and it is highly unlikely that you have the experience to do a job of this magnitude.

The other problem that you may encounter is the scarcity of the Cayenne drive shaft.  One day there may be several in stock.  The next day they may be on backorder.  That is frustrating at best.  So…if you think that your old driveshaft in your Porsche is out of balance it is coming up quickly on decision time

That decision is easily made when you know that in the Denver area the job of replacing your drive shaft will be done economically, professionally, and perfectly.  The answer, as always is The German Car Shoppe in Littleton.  We are your Denver area Porsche repair professional.  Make an appointment today by calling (303) 798-2287.

They Invented the Automobile.

While there may be some dispute it is arguably true.  Mercedes Benz invented the automobile!  As a result, they have the right to consider themselves not only the oldest, but as they advertise it these days “the best or nothing”.  From SUV’s to sedans and coupes Mercedes has master the art of vehicle manufacturing.

It started with the Benz Patent Motorwagen in 1886.  In the 1930’s the 540K hit the road.  Fast forward to the sixties and the 600 Pullman Landaulet was introduced.  It became the favorite of kings and queens and the extremely fortunate world-wide.  Today the G-Class is one of Mercedes’ best.

Whatever the model, Mercedes simply stands for excellence.  A vehicle with this type of reputation deserves the same excellence when it comes to maintenance.  In the Denver area that standard is maintained daily by The German Car Shoppe.  They are the Denver area Mercedes Benz repair and maintenance experts.  Make an appointment to visit their Littleton shop by calling (303) 748-8058.

Fine German Vehicle Maintenance Costs.

If you want to own the finest then it is incumbent upon you to maintain the finest.  It only makes sense.  This applies to many things in life…not the least of which are high-performance German luxury vehicles.  You paid to have the best.  Do not make the mistake of taking your vehicle into just any Denver area repair shop to have it maintained.

Do you own an Audi A8, a Mercedes Benz G-Class, or a Mercedes Benz CL Class?  If you do, then keeping one of them in top condition will probably run you about $1500-$1600 in repair costs over an average five-year period.  Let’s break that down.  That is less than a dollar a day to keep one of these beauties in tip-top condition!

Again, not just any auto repair shop in the area will care for your German-made car or SUV with the same level of knowledge and experience.  Always trust The German Car Shoppe.  They are Denver’s German-made vehicle maintenance professionals.  The name is right on the building.  Make an appointment at their Littleton location by calling (303) 798-2287.

Maintenance on Your German Import.

A high performance German car needs TLC.  Scheduled maintenance is a must if you want years of satisfaction from your Audi, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Porsche, or Volkswagen.  The quality of the parts that are used in any and all repairs is paramount.  Anything less will take a toll down the road.

The experience of the mechanics who will be involved is also extremely important.  Logically, you do not take your German vehicle to a shop that does repair on all sorts of cars and trucks.  Specialization should be one of your top priorities.  Your owner’s manual shows when various maintenance is needed…your trusted mechanic does it right the first time.

How would you like to be safe and secure in the knowledge that you are dealing with the best?  The German Car Shoppe in Littleton CO is ranked the #1 repair center in the Denver Metro for Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Porsche, and VW.  You can’t do better than that!  The next time your pride and joy needs maintenance make an appointment at 5115 S. Santa Fe Drive.  The German Car Shoppe (303) 798-8058.
